Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Call For Hearing Into The Misconduct of Assistant Fire Chief

Wednesday, May 12, 2010 - Just days after a fast moving fire swept through a north Stamford mansion, the members of the Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Association are demanding answers into why a volunteer Assistant Fire Chief cancelled desperately needed equipment and personnel prior to the arrival of the Fire Department. The Fire was originally reported as a chimney fire, but once fire personnel actually arrived on scene, they found a large fire involving the attic. The previously cancelled personnel and resources were then re-dispatched and valuable time was lost. The fast moving fire consumed the entire attic space and second floor. The home was left uninhabitable and sustained millions of dollars worth of property loss.

Millions of New Tax Dollars Proposed To Support Mayor Pavia's "Unified" Fire Service??
Mayor Pavia has proposed a new "plan" to establish a new Fire Department to serve the northern 2/3 of the City of Stamford. This new Department will cost upwards of 10 million dollars per year just to start and will only rise over time. How is he going to pay for this? A new FIRE TAX on homeowners!!! All of this during a time when he promised to hold the line on property taxes and essential City programs and services have been cut and hundreds of City jobs have been eliminated. Click on this link to learn more about the Mayor's "plan".
